Former Lazio centre back Luiz Felipe has still not been officially signed by Real Betis due to wage bill restrictions imposed by La Liga.
The 25-year-old Italian-Brazilian defender left the Biancocelesti after a six-year association last month, leaving the club on a free transfer. Luiz Felipe decided to accept Real Betis’ offer and made the move over to Spain, but things have not started particularly well for the player.

As detailed by LazioNews24, Real Betis still haven’t registered Luiz Felipe’s contract with La Liga yet due to concerns regarding their wage bill. They’ve exceeded the €15 million wage cap set by the Spanish league, and in addition to the Italian-Brazilian they also need to register the contracts of Luiz Henrique, Willian José, Claudio Bravo, Andres Guardado, Joaquin and Victor Camarasa.
Real Betis had come up with a way of registering the 25-year-old; the plan was to lower his wages for this year and then pay the difference in the 2023-24 campaign. Luiz Felipe was happy with this idea but La Liga put a stop to it, leaving the Spanish side in a tough position.
