Another setback for Benni McCarthy. Just days before the CHAN 2024 kicks off, Kenya’s head coach is forced to deal with yet another last-minute withdrawal.

According to reports from Pulse Kenya, Mohammed Bajaber will not be part of the squad. He has left the Harambee Stars training camp due to his transfer to Tanzanian club Simba SC.

This marks the third player lost by the South African coach, following the exits of Emmanuel Osoro and Moses Shumah, who both left the domestic league to sign with Power Dynamos in Zambia.

Bajaber’s participation had already been in doubt due to an injury he has been carrying since early June, which had kept him out of recent league matches for Kenya Police FC and sidelined him for the local national team’s two friendlies against Chad.

Kenya, co-hosting the tournament alongside Tanzania and Uganda, will compete in Group A alongside Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia.
