Gianpiero Piovani's Inter Women fell to a narrow defeat at Viola Park against Fiorentina in Bagno a Ripoli. The Nerazzurre created plenty of chances in the first half and hit the bar through Detruyer, but they failed to find the net. At the end of the opening 45 minutes, Inter were grateful to Runarsdottir, who saved a Boquete penalty. Bonfantini then scored the only goal of the game shortly after the restart, with the Nerazzurre piling the pressure on in the closing stages but unable to find a leveller.
The first efforts of the game came from Serturini at one end and Bredgaard at the other, but both lacked precision. The Nerazzurre's first big chance arrived in the 18th minute: Csiszar freed herself from the attentions of Filangeri and had a go from a tight angle, but Fiskerstrand turned it behind for a corner. With the game starting to open up somewhat, Detruyer combined with Wullaert and shot over from the middle of the box (22'). Four minutes later, Boquete fired off target for the Viola. On the half-hour mark, Detruyer struck the bar from the edge of the area. Immediately afterwards, Fiskerstrand kept out a Tomaselli header. After a chance for Cambiaghi (40'), Bonfantini was brought down by Andrés in the box and Fiorentina were awarded a penalty. However, Runarsdottir guessed the right way to save Boquete's spot-kick and keep Inter on level terms heading into the break.
Fiorentina started the second half aggressively as Schough cleared off the line to deny Janogy. At the other end, Milinkovic had a go from distance but failed to keep her effort down. The Viola took the lead in the 48th minute through Bonfantini, who scored on the rebound after a deflected Bredgaard shot had come off the bar. Inter tried to respond: Cambiaghi and Tomaselli both threatened, while Schough fired over at the far post in the 59th minute. Piovani shuffled his pack and sent on Magull and Bugeja for Detruyer and Tomaselli, but Fiorentina almost struck through Janogy (thwarted by Bowen) and Boquete (from a corner). In the 80th minute, Runarsdottir needed two attempts to save a shot from Faerge. In the closing stages, Inter poured forward as they looked for an equaliser, but Fiskerstrand and her defence held firm. After five minutes of stoppage time, the final whistle was blown.
