Three La Liga sides were in action on Tuesday as MD3 of the 2023-24 Champions League group stages got underway. Real Madrid headed to Braga, with Real Sociedad also in Portugal to take on Benfica. The other match saw Sevilla host Arsenal at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
Benfica 0-1 Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad made it back-to-back wins in the Champions League with an excellent victory over Benfica in Lisbon. It was a match that Imanol Alguacil’s side largely dominated, but they were not able to make the breakthrough until the 63rd minute when Brais Mendez scored for a third successive Champions League match.
The results means that La Real top Group D, ahead of Inter Milan on goal difference.
Sevilla 1-2 Arsenal
Sevilla have still yet to win in this season’s Champions League after a narrow defeat to Arsenal at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. The Premier League scored either side of half time courtesy of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, and despite a goal from Nemanja Gudelj, and the Andalusians could not salvage anything from the game.
Sevilla remain third in Group A with this result, three points behind Lens and Arsenal in first and second respectively.
