Eagles midfielder Farès Chaibi opened the scoring against Mozambique on Sunday. Omar Marmoush, Hugo Larsson and Elias Baum also had reason to celebrate, while Kevin Trapp won his eighth international cap.
Five Eintracht players were in action for their respective countries at the weekend as the third international period of the 2023/24 season enters the final straight.
Algeria made it two wins out of two in World Cup qualifying, with Farès Chaibi – who played the whole 90 minutes – opening the scoring in the 69th minute of an eventual 2-0 victory over Mozambique.
Omar Marmoush and Egypt were also victorious, following up Thursday’s 6-0 win over Djibouti with a 2-0 triumph over Sierra Leone at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia. Marmoush entered the fray in the 79th minute.
Kevin Trapp between the sticks
Kevin Trapp made his eighth senior appearance for Germany on Saturday as Julian Nagelsmann’s side were beaten 3-2 by Turkey at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
Competitive bow for Hugo Larsson
Hugo Larsson’s Sweden also found the net twice, beating Estonia 2-0 in EURO qualifying on Sunday. The 19-year-old was handed his competitive senior international debut in the 72nd minute, having previously appeared in three friendlies for the Tre Kronor.
Just three days after beating their Norwegian counterparts 3-1, a Germany U19 side featuring Elias Baum overcame the Scandinavians for a second time on Sunday. The Eintracht youngster, named in the starting line-up on this occasion, helped his side claim a 2-1 win in Spain.
