Chaibi fires Algeria to victory

The youngster scored the winner against Senegal, Skhiri got the better of Marmoush and Trapp’s Germany overcame France. Pacho, Knauff and Simoni all won their qualifiers, with Collins involved in a stalemate.
After taking part in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in recent days, Ellyes Skhiri and Omar Marmoush faced each other in a friendly on Tuesday. The Eagles of Carthage got the better of their hosts at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, easing to a 3-1 victory in which Skhiri played the full 90 minutes. Marmoush was taken off with a quarter of an hour remaining.
Algeria were also in friendly action, beating Senegal 1-0 at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio. Eintracht’s Farès Chaibi scored the game’s only goal in the 64th minute.
Pacho’s Ecuador win at home
Ecuador claimed their first three points in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup after edging to a 2-1 victory over Uruguay at Quito’s Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado. Eagles defender Willian Pacho played the full 90 minutes in the Ecuadorian capital.
Kevin Trapp did not make an appearance on Tuesday but still had reason to celebrate as Germany beat France 2-1 in Dortmund.
Eagles trio in youth action
Germany U21s followed up Friday’s 2-0 friendly triumph over Ukraine with victory away to Kosovo in their opening European Championship qualifier. Ansgar Knauff started the match before being taken off in the 66th minute.
After going the distance in Albania U21s’ recent 2-1 win in Armenia, Simon Simoni watched on from the sidelines as his team made it two victories from two in EURO qualifying with a 3-2 home win over Romania.
Eagles youngster Nnamdi Collins was also in action, lasting 73 minutes as Germany U20s drew 1-1 with their Polish counterparts in the Elite League.
All Eintracht players with the exception of Pacho, who is returning on Thursday, are expected back in Frankfurt later on Wednesday.
