Chivas want to recall César Huerta from loan at Mazatlán FC in order to beef up manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich’s attacking options.

The Flock have found their scoring touch somewhat in recent games, including during the 2-1 win at Necaxa on Saturday, but they have also struggled at times in front of goal this season.

And they may be able to bring in a reinforcement for the 2021 Clausura without having to dip into the transfer market.

Teenager Huerta is a Chivas player who has spent the most of the last two years out on loan.

He was at Atlético Zacatepec before later moving to Monarcas and subsequently remained with that club as they were renamed and rebranded as Mazatlán FC.

The 19-year-old striker has been hugely impressive for the Sinaloa outfit in their debut season, scoring three goals so far in Guard1anes 2020.

That puts him level with Chivas star José Juan Macías.

ESPN’s Héctor Huerta has reported that Chivas have already held talks with the Mazatlán hierarchy about the prospect of ending the striker’s loan deal early.

Los Rojiblancos are seemingly helped by the fact that no option to buy was included in the loan agreement.

Huerta has already featured six times for the Chivas first team, after he made his senior debut for the club at the age of 17 during the 2018 Apertura.
