Cercle Brugge’s star defender set for Cardiff City move

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Cercle Brugge defender Jesper Daland is set to leave Brugge and join Cardiff City. The Norwegian defender is currently in the Welsh city completing his medical ahead of the move. The 24-year-old is valued at around €4.5m by Transfermarkt and is in the final year of his contract with Cercle.

Daland has been one of the best defenders at the club since he joined from Start back in 2021. His height has always given him a commanding presence on the pitch, but he matches that with his willingness to get stuck into tackles and win headers. Part of Cercle’s success over the past years has been built on the strength of Daland as a central defender in that time and he will certainly be missed. He will leave having made 118 appearances for the side, scoring four goals. During his time at Cercle he also spent one winter training with their parent club Monaco.
