Manchester City have entered the race to sign AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche from the Ligue 1 club this summer.

Pep Guardiola is expected to make significant additions to his Manchester City squad again this summer, as the 53-year-old looks to build on further silverware success, after the Sky Blues clinched a record-breaking fourth successive Premier League title.

Manchester City, who have won 17 major trophies under the Catalonian since 2016, are set for a summer of exits and arrivals, with uncertainty surrounding trio Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Ederson ahead of next month’s transfer window.

Furthermore, Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker are braced for fresh approaches from Saudi Arabia, with MLS clubs having also made enquiries surrounding the future of De Bruyne, as the 32-year-old enters the final 12-months of his current Manchester City deal.

Vincent Kompany’s predicted arrival as head coach at Bayern Munich could also impact the Blues’ transfer strategy, with Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich both earmarked as transfer targets.

Manchester City could also consider returning to the Ligue 1 pool of talent, after completing a £55.5 million deal for Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais last August.

Etihad officials have reportedly entered the race to sign AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche, with the 22-year-old also subject to interest from Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, according to Get French Football News.

The versatile attacking midfielder has made 28 Ligue 1 appearances this season, registering 11 direct goal involvements, and also representing France’s Under-21s.

Akliouche is contracted at AS Monaco until 2026 and helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season with a second place finish.

AS Monaco are hopeful of keeping hold of the midfielder this summer, despite growing interest from a series of European clubs, including Manchester City.

“The priority is to keep Maghnes. Things may change in the market depending on players’ desires but the plan is to keep Maghnes for at least one more season at Monaco,” the club’s CEO Thiago Scuro told Get French Football News.

“There is Champions League in front of us, one more season can also be good for his development, I believe this but I don’t control everyone’s decisions.”

Manchester City signed Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco in 2017, with the 29-year-old having made 364 appearances and won 17 trophies since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium.
