Chelsea have been involved in many dramatic transfer sagas of the years, many of which have happened quite recently under the new ownership.

Last summer there was talk of Chelsea being interested in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, links that only grew even more when former Brighton boss Graham Potter took the Chelsea manager job.

Then in January, Chelsea were reportedly one of the clubs looking to sign Caicedo again, with reports of an offer going in. Arsenal were perhaps pushing harder, but Chelsea were there too.

Brighton ended up keeping their prize asset though, and Caicedo then also signed a new contract at the club recently.

But Brighton CEO Paul Barber admits he doesn’t think this will stop the big clubs coming in for Caicedo again in future transfer windows, in words cited by 90min this week.

Barber believes Caicedo can be whatever he wants to be, but obviously he would prefer if that’s at Brighton.

He said: “Moises is a top-class player and such a lovely and he has the potential to be anything that he wants to be, so this won’t be the only transfer window where Moises is a popular attraction for other clubs.

“We are really happy that he has settled back down, and his chance will come in the future to become whatever he wants to be and we are all very confident that will happen for him.”
