Celtic Women and Glasgow City close in on SWPL leaders Rangers | OneFootball

Celtic saw off Rangers 2-1 to move within a point of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League leaders, while Glasgow City similarly gained ground.

There is just one point between the top three after Celtic defeated Rangers and Glasgow City were victorious at Hearts. Natasha Flint struck twice for Celtic, Jane Ross replying as Rangers rallied in the latter stages. Fiona Brown fired City ahead at Hearts and Emily Whelan added the second for the the visitors.

Hibernian beat Partick Thistle to go level on points with Hearts in fourth, Lauren Doran-Barr and Poppy Lawson with the goals.

Montrose moved six points ahead of the bottom two when defeating Dundee United, with a stoppage-time breakthrough from Louise Brown.

Hamilton Academical remain bottom on goal-difference having gone down 4-0 to Motherwell. Louisa Boyes, Amy Anderson, Morgan Cross and Bailley Collins were all on target for the away side.

Aberdeen were 2-0 winners over Spartans, who are three points above the last two. Bayley Hutchison put the Dons one up and won a late penalty, which Hannah Stewart converted.

Boroughmuir Thistle 1-2 Queen’s Park Livingston 2-1 Stirling University St Johnstone 2-3 Kilmarnock Gartcairn 2-1 Glasgow Women

Queen’s Park kept a 13-point lead at the top as they won at Boroughmuir and second-placed Kilmarnock took the points 3-2 at St Johnstone. Ellie Kane and Emma Craig had the Spiders two goals to the good before conceding late on, while Killie let a 2-0 lead slip but scored the decisive fifth goal of the match.

Stirling University stay bottom on goal difference following a narrow loss to goals from Bryony Ross and Hannah Davie at third-placed Livingston, Gartcairn moved seven points clear of the bottom two by edging Glasgow Women 2-1 with Megan Wands stoppage-time winner.
