“Celtic will pay out within four months,” source tells The Times

Celtic are close to reaching a settlement on the class action taken by former Celtic Boys club players against Celtic PLC. The ongoing cost case was paused to allow for negotiations to take place regarding a settlement and that is an ongoing process.

The legal firm Thompsons Solicitors Scotland, who also have other Scottish clubs in their sights including of course theRangers, and with a Celtic settlement imminent their support can turn their attention to sorting out whether it was the club or the holding company that ran the club that should be morally liable for their own cases.

Celtic insist that the club did NOT run Celtic Boys club but morally the correct thing to do is to resolve this matter once and for all. Few if any Celtic supporters will disagree with that.

The lawyers representing the class action victims have been working with Celtic as they gather evidence so that settlements can be reached on a case by case basis. Thomsons now expect that this agreed process will be completed by the end of the summer.

“We are pleased to confirm that the process of valuing all individual cases has made significant progress in the last six months,” a Thompsons spokesman said, as reported by The Times. “We do not yet have all necessary evidence to commence settlement negotiations and so the court has granted a further short sist (pause) of four months to allow opportunities to do so given the complexities of this task.”

The Times also claim that ‘a source close to the case’ described this latest news as a “significant breakthrough’ and said that they expect “Celtic will pay out within four months.”

Hopefully Celtic leading the way in reaching settlements with the victims will bring all other clubs and football associations to the table to compensate all the victims in Scottish football.
