Celtic are interested in signing Kawasaki Frontale striker Shin Yamada this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Hoops want to strengthen their attack ahead of the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign and have watched the 25-year-old on a couple of occasions.

Yamada will cost Celtic around £1.5 million, and they could look to make a move for him after he notched 20 goals last season and six goals this year.

The Bhoys signed Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda from Japanese football while Ange Postecoglou was in charge and could sign Yamada as he has 18 months left on his deal.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has Maeda and Adam Idah as his striking options, but wants more squad depth to mount a stronger challenge domestically and in Europe.

He helped Frontale reach the Asian Champions League final last month and has enough quality to challenge Maeda and Idah for a place in the starting XI.

Rodgers is concentrating on recruiting quality players in the final third and also has Nordsaelland playmaker Benjamin Nygren on his radar.

Adding Yamada to their attack would be a good move for Celtic, but more striking targets are expected to emerge in the coming weeks before Rodgers makes a final decision on who he wants.
