James Forrest and Greg Taylor were late arrivals back at pre-season, having been away with the Scotland squad for the recent European Championship.

Both of them, along with Callum McGregor and Anthony Ralston, met up with their team-mates just before the Celtic squad headed out to the United States for a pre-season tour.

And the first of three games for Brendan Rodgers' side takes place this weekend, when the Hoops take on MLS side, DC United on Sunday morning. (KO: 12.30am Celtic Park time). The game is LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on Celtic TV.

Speaking to Celtic TV, James Forrest said: "Twelve years ago I came to America with Celtic, so it’s good to come back.

"We do the hard training in the morning then we get to see the city in the afternoon, so it’s a good balance.

"The first day it was very warm but the session wasn’t too hard. We trained again today and it was a bit more cloudy so I think that helped.

"In pre-season its good to get away from Scotland and train somewhere else."

And Greg Taylor added: "It's been a good start to the trip. Obviously Washington's an amazing city, and we also had a tour of the White House which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
