Celtic look set to bring Johnny Kenny into the first team picture after his impressive performances for Shamrock Rovers. The 21-year-old has made the most of his loan spell in Dublin and now looks set to return to Celtic with a view to coming into the first team.

As reported by Mail Sport’s Stephen McGowan, Brendan is considering integrating Kenny as a third choice striking option to supplement Kyogo and Adam Idah while developing.

The youngster’s loan deal at the Dublin club expires in December but he’ll be eager to continue his upwards trajectory, even if it means missing the Dublin side’s UEFA Conference League games in January.

Since moving to the Rovers, Kenny has scored 24 goals and assisted 7 times in 74 appearances. The goals in Europe will have certainly stood out to Brendan and his coaches.

The Celtic manager has spoken about wanting two first pick strikers and a third young player to supplement them. Kyogo and Adam Idah are currently in the building at Celtic but that third youth player is yet to be put in place. Kenny could be getting primed for that position, especially with his deal ending midway through the Scottish season.

There has been speculation that Daniel Cummings may have been the deal candidate for this third striker role. However, McGowan reported that the 19-year-old is yet to receive a contract offer from the Scottish Champions, despite his impressive displays for the B Team.
