Celtic stay top as Dundee v Rangers match is called off | OneFootball

Celtic will go into the international break top of the league looking down on theRangers after today’s game at Dens Park between Dundee and theRangers has been postponed due a water-log pitch.

Dundee FC released an update as follows:

There has been a series of pitch inspections at Dens Park this morning after heavy rain in Tayside and referee Don Robertson has taken the decision that the pitch is unplayable. It’s not the first time this season that the drainage at Dens Park has forced a postponement but this one is significant in that it directly affects the top of the table.

With the international break happening next week there is no chance of a quick re-arrangement and it seems unlikely that the match would be played ahead of Celtic’s visit to Ibrox on Sunday 6 April, although now that theRangers are out of the Europa League they do have more free midweeks!

The downside to this game being off today is that there may have been a European hangover, as often is the case that could have benefitted Dundee and by extension Celtic. We’ll never know because the Scottish weather has intervened.

Hopefully all the supporters buses that would have been quite far up the road to Dundee will turn around and get home safely.
