Just seven Celtic appearance this season

The Celtic winger has made only seven appearances in all competitions for the Hoops so far this season. Despite making his first start this campaign against Dundee in the league late last month, the wideman has clearly failed to impress boss Brendan Rodgers and has thus not featured for his club side since.

Signing from Aris Thessaloniki in the summer of 2023, Palma’s future at Celtic is uncertain given that he has been consigned to a bit part role under Rodgers.

A refreshing break from club action

Playing for his national team seems to be a refreshing break from club action for the 24 year-old who bagged a double in the early hours of yesterday morning versus an impressive Mexico side.

Honduras will take a two-goal advantage into the second leg as Palma and his teammates head to Mexico City on Wednesday evening for the return clash.

A potential semi-final clash against Alistair Johnston’s Canada [who won 1-0 in Suriname on Friday night]or Auston Trusty’s USA [who defeated Jamaica 1-0 two days ago]await for Luis Palma in the CONCACAF Nations League. Progression would give Honduras a credible chance of winning silverware.

“I lost my grandmother, a very, very important person in my life”

Sadly, Luis lost a close family member recently and he dedicated his two goals and stunning victory for his home nation to her. Speaking to local Honduran press post-match against Mexico, Palma expressed his emotions after experiencing a difficult period off the pitch in the past couple of weeks.

The Celtic star said: “It’s a very emotional moment for me because two weeks ago I lost my grandmother, a very, very important person in my life who left a mark on me, and I give her the honour and the glory.

“I’m very happy for the national team. We all did a great job from start to finish, a very important result but there is another game that’s left that is going to be more important than this.”

“We worked hard. I dreamed so much for this moment. These last few months have not been how I wanted them to be and this thing of celebrating again, scoring two goals is an immense joy for me.”
