Celtic will continue their search for a new right-back as Huddersfield Town has reportedly accepted a £4m offer from Stoke City for Tommy Smith.

According to the Daily Record, Celtic were only willing to bid £2.5m for the 27-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his current contract.

Smith was thought to be heading to Scotland after he missed both of Huddersfield’s friendlies against Greuther Fürth on Thursday, but is now expected to undergo a Stoke medical in the coming days.

Following the departures of both Mikael Lustig, Christian Gamboa, and Jeremy Toljan this summer, Neil Lennon was forced to use Kristoffer Ajer on the right side during Celtic’s 3-1 victory over FK Sarajevo in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying tie.

Celtic will likely turn their attention back to Sheffield United’s George Baldock, who is said to be available for around £3m.
