Celtic have been very busy in the transfer market lately and that trend is likely to continue with a number of players going arriving and departing in equal measure. Odsonne Edouard has been heavily linked with a move to English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion this week, whilst Kyogo Furuhashi has already been signed from the Japanese top flight. Alongside Furuhashi, Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths remain in the first team fold, though the latter is currently out with a calf injury and faces an uphill battle to win over large sections of the Celtic support. Another striker would be ideal for Postecoglou and it appears the Celtic board are backing the boss in that department, at least if reports in the Peruvian media are to be believed.

Indeed, reports in Peru and Italy claim that Celtic have launched a “concrete offer” for Benevento striker Gianluca Lapadula. Peru based outlet Libero state that the player is valued at $9m, though they do not provide any detail of the sum offered by the Hoops.

Lapadula was part of the Peru squad that reached the Semi-Final of this year’s Copa America. He scored four goals in seven games during that tournament, whilst he bagged eight goals and five assists in 37 Serie A appearances last term. His club, Benevento, were relegated and are now thought to be looking to reduce their wage bill in Serie B. It remains to be seen whether that opens the door for Celtic.
