According to Florian Plettenberg, Celtic are pushing to sign Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels.
It is understood that the 20-year-old has agreed to join the Scottish outfit after positive talks with the club.
As stated in the report, personal terms have been agreed upon between both parties, with Engels hoping to make the move to Celtic Park, and Augsburg have been informed about his decision.
However, at this stage, Celtic have yet to make an offer for the versatile midfielder.
Augsburg are looking to keep hold of Engels, who has featured in both the first round of the DFB-Pokal this season as well as playing 80 minutes against Werder Bremen on the opening weekend.
Regardless, in the next 24 hours, Celtic are preparing to make a move for the 20-year-old, with the Scottish champions set to lose Matt O’Riley to Brighton & Hove Albion.
If Augsburg are to listen to offers, then they will demand a fee in the region of €10–15 million for the Belgium U-21 international.
