Celtic could bring in up to seven new faces this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Having guided the Hoops back into the Champions League following their title success, Ange Postecoglou is set to be given funds to spend in a bid to compete both domestically and in Europe.

What’s the latest news involving Celtic?

Despite winning the title less than two weeks ago, the Australian manager is already putting plans into place to try and improve his squad ahead of next season.

Postecoglou wants to sign both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota on permanent deals following their loan spells from Tottenham and Benfica.

What year did Celtic Park open?

1882 1892 1902 1912

Carter-Vickers formed an impressive defensive partnership with Carl Starfelt, helping the Glasgow giants concede just 22 goals from their 38 Scottish Premiership matches, while Jota was directly involved in 27 goals in his 40 appearances for the Hoops.

But with Celtic not only looking defend their Scottish Premiership crown next season but also compete on the European stage, having crashed out of all three continental competitions in 2021-2022, O’Rourke reckons they could bring in another five players on top of those two.

What did O’Rourke say about Celtic?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think if they could get those two in it would be good business and they’ll probably be looking at, at least another four, maybe five signings for Celtic.

“I think there’s positions in the team that they’ll need to strengthen, especially in midfield with Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic both leaving the club on free transfers, making a couple of midfield spots up for grabs.”

Who could Celtic sign?

Despite many of his signings as Celtic manager coming from Japanese football, it appears that Postecoglou could dip back into the EFL following Matt Riley’s successful January move from MK Dons.

According to the Shropshire Star, the Hoops are interested in Shrewsbury youngster Ben Crompton, who recently turned down a new contract with the third-tier outfit.

But Celtic’s first summer arrival could come from Sweden in the shape of Hammarby defender Mohanad Jeahze. The Scottish Sun believe that the 25-year-old is on the verge of signing for Celtic in a £2m deal and he is expected to join up with his new team-mates ahead of pre-season.

As the new season draws closer, it’ll quickly become apparent who Postecoglou wants to bring in, but The Athletic recently reported that he wants two players in each position, so it looks set to be a busy summer north of the border.
