Just six months after Celtic paid a £300,000 compensation fee to bring in defensive midfielder Liam Shaw from Sheffield Wednesday, the 20-year-old is set to go on loan for some much-needed minutes.

According to the Scotsman, the player will be headed to fourth-placed Motherwell on loan for the rest of the season.

Despite signing on until summer 2025, Shaw has barely featured for the Hoops, starting in Celtic’s Europa League group-stage finale against Real Betis (a dead rubber) and coming off the bench for nine minutes against St Mirren.

Shaw also featured twice for the Celtic ‘B’ side in their Scottish Challenge Cup matches.

With both Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate now in the squad, Shaw must prove himself to have a chance under Ange Postecoglou.
