Celtic have had two offers turned down by Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles for highly-rated attacking midfielder Jakob Breum (Sky Sports).
The Scottish Premiership champions are continuing their search for attacking reinforcements this summer and have turned to Breum, who still has two years remaining on his contract.
The latest bid is believed to be in the region of £2.6 million and was lodged over the weekend. However, the offer fell significantly short of the Dutch side’s valuation of the 21-year-old.
Breum has emerged as one of the ‘creative forces’ for Go Ahead Eagles, operating primarily as an attacking midfielder. He is also capable of featuring on either wing.
The Denmark youth international enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign.
He notched 10 goals and five assists in 26 league appearances as his side finished comfortably mid-table in the Dutch top flight.
Despite the initial knockbacks, discussions will continue this week, with Celtic keen to add a dynamic attacking option following Nicholas Kuhn‘s £17m move to Como.
A long-term injury to Jota, who is not expected back until early 2026, has also forced Celtic to act decisively in the market.
Celtic have signed Shin Yamada, Benjamin Nygren and Kieran Tierney this summer. They have also added Ross Doohan, Callum Osmand and Hayato Inamura to their squad.
Breum could be next. His ability to carry the ball, create chances between the lines, and stretch play has made him one of the Eredivisie’s more exciting young midfielders.
The Hoops remain hopeful of striking a deal, but may need to return with a significantly improved offer if they are to tempt Go Ahead into selling one of their prized assets.
