Celtic ‘have been monitoring’ FC Luzern midfielder Ardon Jashari as they continue to look for ways to improve the first-team squad, journalist Pete O’Rourke has told GiveMeSport.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from his boyhood club in recent weeks following a string of impressive displays at the base of the engine room, with Parkhead sounded out as a potential destination.

Scottish outlet Daily Record have claimed that Celtic, Leeds United and RB Leipzig are all eager to snap Jashari from Luzern in the January transfer window.

The Swiss outfit are believed to value their prized asset, who still has three and a half years left to run on his current contract, at £5 million.

Jashari has admitted that he is ‘aware of all the speculation’ surrounding his future but that any switch ‘would have to be right’ for him and Luzern.

“Of course, I have read all the stories about my transfers to other clubs, and I am aware of all the speculation,” he said. “With regards to any possible transfer, the timing and financial aspect of any deal would have to be right for both me and the club.”

The Switzerland international was a surprise inclusion in his nation’s World Cup campaign, but only made one substitute appearance against Portugal in the last 16.

What has O’Rourke said about Jashari?

O’Rourke has disclosed that he believes Jashari is a ‘good young player’ and that he is currently on Celtic’s radar.

In an interview with GMS, he said: “He looks a good young player, he’s only 20 years old and already a Swiss International as well.

“He’s done really well at FC Luzern, so with being a young player with big potential, Celtic have been monitoring him.”

Would Jashari be a good signing?

Celtic have already bolstered their midfield options this winter by bringing in Tomoki Iwata from Ange Postecoglou’s former club Yokohama F Marinos on an initial loan deal with a compulsory option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

However, Jashari could be another exciting option for the Glasgow giants to call upon should he make the switch.

The youngster has recorded four assists in his 17 appearances across all competitions so far this season, captaining his side on numerous occasions.

Overall, Jashari has racked up two goals and seven assists in 40 outings for Luzern, and Celtic could hand Postecoglou another exciting prospect if they can secure his signature.
