The current stand-in incumbent in theRangers manager’s seat until the end of the season has admitted it will be extremely painful to watch Brendan Rodgers and his team clinch yet another Scottish Premiership crown, if they get at least a point against Dundee United at Tannadice today.
The Celts blew the opportunity a few weeks back to seal the deal on home turf against Kilmarnock, faltering to an uncharacteristically poor 1-0 defeat at the hands of St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
However, that simply stemmed the bleeding for Barry and his club, as the coup de grace has been merely prolonged, arguably making it worse in the process for the Ibrox outfit and the merry band of followers who must endure another Celtic procession.

That could be made exponentially worse too in the coming weeks, as Brendan Rodgers and his side have the chance to lift the Scottish Cup against Aberdeen next month, possibly bagging another Treble and really rubbing salt in the wounds for Ferguson and his cohorts who will finish the season empty handed.
“Well, it would be painful for me. It would be painful for my staff, it would be painful for the supporters.” Barry Ferguson
The caretaker Ibrox boss was questioned on this aspect of Celtic dominance on Friday afternoon and painfully recounted many memories of watching the Hoops become champions of Scotland. “Well, it would be painful for me. It would be painful for my staff, it would be painful for the supporters.” Barry Ferguson said at his media conference ahead of his first of five dead rubbers games.

“And I want it to be painful for my players, because you’re at theRangers and we need to start challenging, properly challenging for trophies.
“What do I remember from these occasions as a player when we had to watch Celtic celebrating? Well they were horrible summers. I was ready to come back in and work my backside off to make sure that didn’t happen again.
“It’s sore when you see your fiercest rivals win trophies, you don’t like to see that. It should make you even more determined and hopefully that’s going to be the case next season.”

If Celtic don’t lose to Jim Goodwin’s men this afternoon and complete the second part of their potential domestic clean sweep, things over Govan way are sure to be blue (pun intended). The cold shadow that years and years of the Bhoys’ dominance has cast high above our old yet newish rivals, has left them feeling demoralised and morose, as the once poor relations have arisen from the doldrums to be the main show in town.
C’est la vie…
