Celtic fans are ‘quite confident’ of pulling off two positive results against RB Leipzig, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.

The Hoops are set to travel to the Red Bull Arena this evening for their Champions League Group F encounter before welcoming the German outfit to Parkhead for the return fixture the following Tuesday.

What is the latest news involving Celtic?

At present, Celtic are currently sitting in third position in the group after losing their opening game to Real Madrid before holding Shakhtar Donestk to a draw last time out.

Leipzig, on the other hand, are yet to pick up a solitary point after tasting defeat in both of their European clashes to date, leaving them marooned at the bottom of the table.

That has placed extra emphasis on their upcoming clashes as a set of disappointing results for either side will likely end any hope they had of qualifying for the knockout stages.

What has Joseph said about Celtic?

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Joseph said: “I think it says a lot about what Celtic have done in this last year that we even talking about them qualifying from a Champions League group.

“And they have people actually thinking that they can go on to perhaps beat Leipzig home and away, or at least get results against them home and away.

“I know in the Europa League a couple of years ago, Celtic lost away quite convincingly to Leipzig but beat them at home under Brendan Rodgers, so I think Celtic fans are quite confident that they can get two results, not necessarily two wins, but two results against them.

“And they'll be hoping that Real Madrid also beat Shakhtar because they have put themselves in a very good position, and Celtic will probably be kicking themselves that they didn't beat Shakhtar in Warsaw a couple of weeks ago.

“But that's why these two games are huge because if Celtic can get four points from them, that'd put them on a very good standing going into the last couple of games.”

What form are both sides in?

Celtic may be sitting pretty at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but Ange Postecoglou’s charges have only won one of their previous four fixtures across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Leipzig have endured a difficult start to the campaign, leading to the dismissal of former manager Domenico Tedesco.

New boss Marco Rose has overseen two victories and two defeats in his four-game tenure at the club, and Celtic will surely be hoping they can take advantage of his bedding-in period.
