Celtic’s reported pursuit of Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Christopher Scott is an ‘interesting link’, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Hoops have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old as manager Ange Postecoglou looks to make further additions to his table-topping side in the summer.
Postecoglou has overseen a significant overhaul of the first-team squad at Celtic since arriving in June, bringing in 16 players over the two transfer windows he has been at the helm for.
And the Greek-Australian tactician has been justified in his actions, with the Glasgow giants currently sitting pretty at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
However, it seems as though Postecoglou is still not satisfied with the options available to him at Celtic.
According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Parkhead outfit are eager to snap up Scott, although they’re expected to face stiff competition for his signature from Premier League side Brentford.
It’s also claimed that Munich are also keen to extend Scott’s stay in Bavaria, but the teenager ‘wants to play regularly’ and may opt for a new challenge.
With just a few months remaining on his contract, the Germany Under-20 international could depart the Allianz Arena on a free transfer, 18 months after arriving from boyhood club Bayer Leverkusen.
Scott has registered seven goals and four assists in 17 appearances for FC Bayern II this season, and O’Rourke believes the ‘exciting attacker’ could ‘fit the bill’ for Celtic.

He told GiveMeSport: “It’s an interesting link, this one. Obviously, he’s a young player, only 19. He would maybe fit the bill for Celtic as he’s out of contract in the summer, so he could arrive as a free agent.
“He’s been playing for Bayern Munich’s reserves, so we don’t know too much about him, but at 19, he seems like an exciting attacker.”
At present, Tom Rogic is the only natural ‘No.10’ in Celtic’s setup following the departure of Ryan Christie last summer.
But that hasn’t affected their ability to create chances and put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis, doing so on 78 occasions in their 33 top-flight fixtures to date.
Yet Rogic is approaching his 30th birthday, and with just over a year left on his existing deal, doubts remain over his long-term future.
Therefore, Scott could be seen as an ideal successor to the Australia international, and Celtic will surely be eager to snap up the youngster without having to pay a penny.
