Celtic eager to sign Barcelona full-back permanently

Celtic will have to find a solution to the left-back issue sooner or later.

The Bhoys have nothing to worry about at the moment, as they have Greg Taylor and Alex Valle as two reliable options, but the situation could be different next summer.

Taylor is approaching the end of his contract at Celtic Park. He has been outstanding for Celtic, and Brendan Rodgers wants him to stay at the club.

However, there is no sign of a breakthrough at the moment. Put simply, Celtic could lose him for free next summer.

Valle has impressed for the Bhoys. He has made nine appearances in all competitions and has three assists to his name.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Celtic will hold talks with Barcelona over the possible signing of the 20-year-old left-back.

However, the deal looks difficult because of the lack of an agreed fee.

Celtic should make a concrete effort to sign Valle

In three starts in the Scottish Premiership this season, Valle has managed 1.8 key passes and created a couple of big chances.

He makes around 1.3 tackles and 3.3 ball recoveries and has won 60% of his ground duels per game. The statistics are pretty impressive for a young player who has never previously played in Scotland.

Valle has the entire career ahead of him, and he has plenty of room for improvement. It makes sense for the Bhoys to make a concrete effort to sign him.

Alexandro Bernabei could be another option

Ange Postecoglou signed Alexandro Bernabei from Lanus for £3.75 million.

He made 28 appearances for the club but then headed out on loan to Brazilian club Internacional at the start of this year.

Rodgers probably didn’t think he was good enough, and many people felt that he would never return to Glasgow again.

His loan deal will expire in January, which means Rodgers can reintegrate him into the squad.
