Two players made their return to full training this week and it was much welcome news indeed.

CCV is a colossus

Cameron Carter-Vickers is the one who has grabbed the most headlines and understandably so, but one that has perhaps flew under the radar is just as important, and that is of course the news that Greg Taylor was back on the training ground yesterday.

CCV is a colossus at the heart of the defence and he is in with a chance of making the squad for Sunday’s trip to Fir Park to take on Motherwell. Greg is also in with a shout of making Sundays game, although it might be a too early for the Scotland man, but he should be fully fit and raring to go for the midweek clash with Dundee, as well as the League cup semi final against Aberdeen next Saturday.

CCV is of course the one who will grab the attention, but having Greg back is just as important. Alex Valle has been decent in Greg’s absence, but Greg brings something extra to the side.

Alex Valle was excellent in Bergamo

Alex Valle was excellent in Bergamo in midweek, even getting Sandman’s prestigious Man of the Match award, but he did put in a shift and his legs might be heavy for tomorrow.

Greg plays his role in the side so well, even if it does go unnoticed most of the time. He also has experience in an abundance and gives nothing less than one hundred percent in every game he plays. His return like CCV’s, is most welcome indeed.

Celtic should recognise and reward Greg Taylor

While we are talking about Greg Taylor, whatever is the problem with his contract negotiations? This has rumbled on for months now and the player is able to speak to other clubs in January as his current contract runs out at the end of the season.

Taylor came in from Kilmarnock and while he was obviously lower money there, his position appears to be that at Celtic he remains one of the lowest paid players in the first team squad certainly amongst the core group of regular starters. Greg Taylor has more than earned his status in the team and if Brendan wants to keep the player as he says he does, then that should be recognised and indeed appreciated accordingly.
