Celtic have been enjoying a fine season in the Premiership under Ange Postecoglou as they currently sit three points clear at the top of the table.

They have won 23 of their 30 matches to date and have only conceded 18 times in the division, with the Australian head coach closing in on a title success in his first campaign at Parkhead.

This comes after the Hoops finished runners-up to their arch-rivals last season under Neil Lennon. Postecoglou has come in and has Celtic playing sublime, winning, football that looks set to clinch the trophy by the end of the season.

Forget Jota

Portuguese forward Jota has played a major role in the club’s form in the Premiership as he has scored seven goals and provided six assists in 21 appearances. He has been a constant menace to the opposition and consistently delivered top-class performances, with an average SofaScore rating of 7.48.

However, forget Jota as another attacker has been a standout for Postecoglou this season – David Turnbull.

He was dubbed a “Rolls Royce” by the retired Michael Stewart and Allan Hutton hailed him as “outstanding” whilst also saying: “He’s one of their most important players.

“That being said, I always thought he would be a player who the next manager, Postecoglou in this case, would build a team around – maybe in that same bracket with McGregor and Jullien.

“He’s matured as a player, turned his form around and stepped up this season.”

Outstanding is exactly what the £14k-per-week gem has been for the Hoops this season. He has averaged a phenomenal SofaScore rating of 7.87 across 18 outings in the Premiership, chipping in with five goals and four assists.

Big Fat Celtic Quiz of 2021 - can you get 100%? Question 1. How many managers have Celtic had in 2021?

One Two Three Four

The Scot has averaged a sensational 4.1 key passes per game in the division, which means that he has created a whopping 74 chances for his teammates in comparison to Jota’s 42 in 21 games- the second-best record in the team. This is an incredible return by Turnbull and shows that he has an unmatched level of creativity in the Celtic squad.

Hopefully, he will be able to return from injury sooner rather than later and continue to be a standout performer for Postecoglou in the Premiership. If he can come back and pick up from where he left off then he will have a major say in the title race at the end of the season with his ability to create chances for others to score.
