The Bhoys brought the 2024/25 League campaign to a close last weekend, and lifted the Premiership trophy once again in a packed out, sunny Paradise. The Celtic fairytale struck again as James Forrest scored for his 16th consecutive season, taking it right to the wire in the fourth minute of added time…

The roar in the stadium as the ball hit the net cemented the occasion as another unforgettable moment at Celtic Park, and the incredible atmosphere as the team celebrated with the trophy will live long in the memory of the Season Ticket holders who were a part of it.

That’s the message this week to Celtic season ticket holder with the vast majority already having renewed and the usual last minute rush set to happen over the next few days to ensure that seats in Paradise are secure.

Celtic Park’s capacity is 60,831 of which around 53,000 are season-ticket holders. Celtic also has a extensive waiting list which is currently closed due to volume of supporters currently signed up and there are also many thousands who would love to join and ultimate get their hands on Celtic tickets for each home match of the season.

Those on the waiting list have to be patient, with more than five years the likely wait, and all that the club has to work with is to sell on season tickets that have not been renewed for one reason or another. The numbers each year are tiny.

Celtic do keep a supply of tickets that are sold at an advertised time via the official club website and they are always snapped up in a matter of minutes.

One solution to easing the problem of getting a match day ticket would be for Celtic to introduce a Ticket Exchange Scheme like for example the one operated successfully by Hearts. Michael Nicholson, the Celtic CEO told the Celtic AGM a few season ago that the club were looking at this but so far there has been no further developments.

The other solution is more radical but actually makes plenty of sense. The ageing Main Stand at Celtic Park could be redeveloped with a top tier added or perhaps demolished with a modern multi-tier stand added to increase the capacity to say 75,000 or more.

The demand is there and while there will be logistic issues and added hassle for a year or two, the end result would be incredible and would substantially increase the club’s revenues while allowing many more supporters to enjoy the pleasures of watching Glasgow Celtic putting on a show. Just like James Forrest did on Trophy Day.
