Fans will be buzzing

Considering just how impressive all three of Celtic’s new additions were in Japan in 2021, the news that the club have confirmed each of their arrivals is sure to have left Hoops fans buzzing.

Indeed, over Maeda’s 36 J League appearances this term, the £990k-rated forward scored 23 goals, registered three assists and created four big chances for his teammates, as well as taking 2.6 shots and making 0.9 key passes per game.

These returns saw the Japan international earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.09, ranking him as Yokohama F. Marinos’ joint-sixth best performer in the league.

Meanwhile, over Hatate’s 30 J League outings, the £720k-rated versatile midfielder scored five goals, provided two assists and created three big chances for his teammates, as well as taking two shots and making 1.1 key passes per game.

The 24-year-old also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, making 1.5 interceptions, 1.3 tackles and 51.7 passes and winning 5.3 duels per match. These returns saw him earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.16, ranking him as his Kawasaki Frontale’s fifth-best player in the league.

Finally, over Ideguchi’s 29 J League fixtures, the £720k-rated holding midfielder created one big chance for his teammates, as well as making 1.2 interceptions, 2.3 tackles and 0.5 key passes per game, with these returns seeing the 25-year-old earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.76.

As such, it is clear to see that all three of Celtic’s new signings will add tremendous depth to Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad, something which would appear very much needed considering just how many injuries
