Celtic have completed the signing of promising goalkeeper Josh Clarke. The Irishman joins from Glenavon having previously had spells with English Premier League sides Chelsea and Bournemouth. The player arrives on a two-year deal.

The goalkeeper signs to Celtic’s B Team as the young Celts look to strengthen. Clarke, 18, was eligible for Ireland, England and Sweden but was recently called up to the Irish FA’s set up meaning he will likely play for Ian Baraclough’s team in the future.

Celtic confirmed the deal earlier today in a statement. However, it is one for the future with the highly-rated player looking to one day fill the No.1 jersey occupied by Joe Hart. Clarke will hope that he can go beyond international teammate Conor Hazard, who is on loan at Helsinki.

Clarke will look to take the No.1 spot for Stephen McManus’ team ahead of Toby Oluwayemi and Joe Morrison. His arrival is certainly one to watch.

Celtic signed Benjamin Siegrist to compete with Hart for the No.1 role with Scott Bain dropping to third in the pecking order for goalies. Clarke will surely have his eyes on moving up the pecking order and being involved in the first team picture.
