Ange Postecoglou went with a surprisingly full-strength side and they took the lead when they were awarded a ridiculous penalty after a lengthy VAR check determined that Efe Ambrose had handled in the area despite the ball deflecting onto his arm following a Liel Abada strike.

Aaron Mooy tucked home from the spot before the Hoops added a quickfire second when Ambrose committed an error in possession against his former side, something he was guilty of during his Celtic tenure too, and allowed Kyogo Furuhashi to be slipped in and make it two.

Shortly before half-time, David Turnbull chipped in with his second long-range strike in as many games when he swept into the corner with a fine first time finish after the ball broke his way on the edge of the D.

There was still time for another before the interval and it came through Kyogo with his 20th of the season as he pounced on another defensive mistake to lash into the corner after good work in the build-up from the electric Abada.

Tomoki Iwata came on at half-time for a Celtic debut and within two minutes, his side almost made it five, only for an effort from Mooy to spin off the post and out to safety but with six minutes left, the Australian did get his goal with a snap finish after persistent work from Sead Hakšabanović on the left to round out the scoring.

The game concluded with Postecoglou handing out another debut as Bosun Lawal was introduced for Carl Starfelt in the closing stages.
