Celtic’s long summer wait to sign a right-back is finally over after the club completed the capture of Hatem Abd Elhamed.
The defender joins from Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva for a fee which is reportedly £1.7m.
Elhamed has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Parkhead.
Speaking to the club’s website for the first time as a new Bhoy, the 28-year-old couldn’t hide his delight at the move.
“It is an absolute honour to sign for this great club, one of the world’s truly great football clubs and I could not be happier,” the defender said.
“When you play football you want to climb to the top and be the best you can be, and I know that I have found the best place for me.
“This is a club that has a tradition of playing quick, attacking, exciting and successful football and I am delighted that I am going to be part of this.
“I know the Celtic fans are the best around and I can’t wait to meet them, to pull on the famous jersey and play in front of them. I will give everything to the club.”
Elhamed has been capped once for his country, when he replaced now club team-mate Nir Bitton in a Euro 2020 qualifier in June.
