Celtic defender Josip Juranovic could complete a switch to the Premier League when the transfer window re-opens in January, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Parkhead since the summer after enjoying an impressive maiden campaign under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Celtic transfer news – Josip Juranovic

A recent report from the Daily Mail has claimed that following unsuccessful attempts to extend Juranovic’s contract, Celtic are now prepared to listen to offers for him.

The Croatia international was linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid by the same outlet in the previous transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano even stated that the versatile full-back was ‘expected to leave’ the Glasgow giants.

However, Juranovic ended up staying put and has continued to go from strength to strength for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions.

90min have now stated that West Ham United are among Juranovic’s admirers although any offer from the east London outfit hinges on Bayer Leverkusen firming up their interest in Vladimir Coufal.

What has Jones said about Juranovic?

Jones has disclosed that there is ‘a pretty good chance’ Juranovic departs Celtic over the winter window and has touted the Premier League as a likely landing spot.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “It’ll be interesting, there is a pretty good chance that he leaves, I’m told that.

“And there’s no doubt he could end up in the Premier League because there have been two or three clubs watching them over the course of the season so far.”

How big a loss would Juranovic be?

Juranovic only arrived at Celtic in August 2021 after completing a £2.5m deal from Legia Warsaw and made an instant impact, registering five goals and two assists in 35 appearances last term.

The technically gifted star played a pivotal part in Postecoglou’s charges regaining the Scottish Premiership title as well as the League Cup crown, leading to him being labelled “outstanding”.

And Juranovic has carried that form into the current campaign, averaging 0.4 blocks per league game, the third-highest tally amongst his teammates, and 1.6 key passes, the joint-fourth highest total, as per WhoScored.

Juranovic has also racked up two goal contributions in his 15 outings this season, and his exit would be a bitter blow to Celtic.
