Rumours that Club América will bring in a new goalkeeper have been swirling as of late and Agustín Marchesín is the name in the headlines.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a return to the club as current goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa’s deal expires at the end of December and talks of a renewal at a stall.

However, following the rumours, Celta Vigo president Carlos Mouriño confirmed a move is not being discussed at the moment.

“[Is it true] that Marchesín has told us that he wants to leave, or that América has told us that he has a preference to get him back? No,” he said in an interview with W Deportes.

“We have a magnificent relationship with América, and we think that if that was his thought, they would have communicated it to us.”

The quotes do not exactly suggest a deal would be off the table, so it could still very well happen in the future.

Marchesín has made 14 appearances for Celta Vigo this season, registering four clean sheets.

During his time at América, he made 130 appearances keeping 50 clean sheets.
