Barcelona began their preparations for the 2022/23 campaign on Monday as players who were not involved in the international fixtures last month reported for the first day of pre-season.

There were a couple of unexpected faces that showed up for the pre-season, in the form of Riqui Puig and Neto. Both players had been given permission to look for a new club and had been instructed not to join the camp by the management.

However, Neto and Puig reported to the pre-season camp as usual and underwent their medical tests and training. Despite that, nothing changes with regard to their future as both players are out of favour under Xavi Hernandez.

Puig is already believed to be in advanced talks over a move to Serie A giants Fiorentina. As for Neto, there have been contradicting reports emerging over his future, with a few claiming he is intent on leaving while some insist he plans to stay and see out his contract which expires in 2023.

There has been interest in the Brazilian from his homeland, while clubs in Italy have also been linked. Now, as per Santi Peon (h/t Noticias Celta), Neto has been offered a chance to continue in La Liga, with Celta Vigo identifying him as a priority target for the summer.

The Galician outfit are on the lookout for a replacement for Matias Dituro, who featured in all their La Liga games last season but has returned to parent club Universidad Catolica after the expiry of his loan spell.

Barcelona ace Neto has thus emerged as a target for Celta, although they will need the 32-year-old to reduce his wages significantly for the move to materialise. Whether the ex-Juventus ace is willing to do so remains to be seen.
