Cue the celebrations, Eredivisie giants Ajax turned 123 years old on Saturday.

And to honour another year around the sun, we’re looking back on some of the club’s best moments.

Best names in the business

Many talented names have represented Amsterdam over the year, but a few players were a cut above the rest.

Danny and son Daley Blind, Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, Clarence Seedorf, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Luis Suárez, Wesley Sneijder and Dusan Tadić, to name a few.

Oh, and we can’t forget the great Johan Cruyff.

European glory

The brilliance of Patrick Kluivert against AC Milan in the 1994-95 Champions League secured Ajax their first title in the Champions League era on a famous night in Vienna.

And that same calendar year, the Dutch giants beat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu – a feat they accomplished once again during a stunning 2018-19 campaign.

Killer kits

Ajax are also known for dropping some of the slickest kits in football, especially in recent years.

The Bob Marley-inspired “Three Little Birds” kit takes the cake for us.

Dramatic derby scenes

Regarding derbies in the Netherlands, Ajax fans, PSV Eindhoven fans and Feyenoord fans know what they’re doing.

It’s never a dull atmosphere when the Amsterdam side turns up against one of their top rivals, and it creates some incredible scenes.

Serial winners

Then finally, we can’t forget just how dominant Ajax are when it comes to winning titles.

They have 36 Eredivisie titles, 20 KVB Cups, nine Dutch Super Cups, and a total of four Champions League/European Championship titles.
