After several days of back-and-forth negotiations, Club América forward Cecilio Domínguez will finally join Superliga side Independiente de Avellaneda.
The 24-year-old Paraguayan started this season red-hot, scoring in each of América’s first two matches this season to go along with an assist.
Domínguez was left out of América’s line-up during their 3-0 win over Pachuca on Saturday, which all but confirmed his departure.
The last part of negotiations was to figure out his salary, which reportedly has been agreed upon between the player and the club.
Domínguez will travel to Argentina this week to officially sign his contract with Independiente.
El Rojo are currently in seventh place in the Superliga and will compete in this year’s Copa Sudamericana as well.
Domínguez arrived at América from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño two years ago for €6.1m and was expected to be Diego Lainez’s replacement.
With 18 months left on his current contract, the transfer fee is expected to be significant.
