KINGSTON, Jamaica – Cavalier FC won 2-nil over Mount Pleasant FA as the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup kicked off on Tuesday at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Christopher Ainsworth scored the opening goal in the 9' on a penalty kick opportunity for Cavalier FC.

Daniel Green struck towards goal in an attempt to equalize off a free kick in the 22’, but the ball ended at the hands of Cavalier goalkeeper Jeadine White.

Shaquille Stein doubled the lead for Cavalier in the 25' with a header in the box to connect on a service from Jalmaro Calvin.

Nicholas Nelson had an attempt from outside the box in the 34’, but White was there to make the save.

Kaile Auvray attempted to increase the Cavalier in the 49' with a ground shot inside the penalty area but Mount Pleasant goalkeeper Tafari Chambers denied the attempt.

Tevin Shaw had a look from midfield off a half-volley in the 82', but White captured the ball to avert the danger.

Jeadine White saw out the clean sheet with a one-handed save in the 90’+5 to deny a header in the box from Rayonne Mbougain. The Cavalier goalkeeper ended the match with six saves.

Runners-up in the 2023 edition, Cavalier FC begins its campaign with three points to take an early lead in Group A. The Jamaican side will stay within its borders to host Police FC on August 29 in Kingston.

Mount Pleasant FA will look to rebound next week when it faces another Jamaican foe and 2024 CFU Club Shield winners, Arnett Gardens FC, on August 27 at Sabina Park.
