The legend of Cássio continues to grow with each game.
Wednesday’s decisive Copa Sudamericana second-leg clash against Racing will have another special meaning for the Corinthians goalkeeper.
Upon stepping on the pitch, Cássio will play his 395th match in a Corinthians shirt – becoming the second-most experienced goalkeeper in club history.
Cássio will be level with legendary goalkeeper Gilmar, who famously allowed Pele’s first professional goal.
“Not in my wildest dreams could I have imagined everything that has happened,” the goalkeeper said in an interview with GloboEsporte.
“But I was always thinking game by game, step by step.
“I feel privileged to be in this select group of players who have reached this mark with the club.”
Only the legendary goalkeeper Ronaldo, has more appearances (602).
Cássio has won eight titles for the club. Three Campeonato Paulistas (2013, 2017 and 2018), two Brasileirãos (2015 and 2017), one Recopa Sudamericana (2013), one Copa Libertadores (2012) and one Club World Cup (2012).
