Corinthians goalkeeper Cássio Ramos continues to make history with the Alvinegro club.

Despite a disappointing result on the road in Sorocaba, a lucky 1-1 draw at São Bento, Cássio has a personal landmark to celebrate.

After matchday 9 the shot-stopper has tallied 396 official matches for the club, behind only Ronaldo Giovanelli on 602.

In his eight years with Corinthians, he won eight titles and added some notable contributions to the highlight reel. Playing the humble part, Cássio refused to say he was the greatest goalkeeper in club history.

“Let’s just think about the present,” he laughed. “We do not know what can still happen in the future. I’m already reaching 400 games, maybe I can reach Ronaldo.”

“For me, Ronaldo was the greatest goalkeeper in club history. I do not necessarily want to be bigger than anyone. I can pass Ronaldo in terms of titles or number of games, but my respect for him will always be this great,” Cássio said to Corinthians TV.

“Even in my wildest dreams I could not imagine that would happen. I never stopped working and chasing after this.”

Cássio even admitted he was not fully aware of his milestone though it is not a sign of flippancy.

“To be honest, I did not know that I was so close to hitting this mark. It was a team advisor who told me. It’s not negligence but I have to focus on other things.”

“This is my eighth season for Corinthians, but it seems like it’s the first one. I feel very motivated every year, I also feel very privileged.”

“I became the goalkeeper with the second most games for the club and I think this is due in large part to the titles. Playing in a team like this forces you to win titles.”
