Corinthians goalkeeper Cássio Ramos has been the number one for the club for some time but only has one appearance for the national team.

Prior to working with Tite in the Brazil national team set up, Cássio had played under the manager at Corinthians.

The goalkeeper was left on the bench and, despite significant time passing since that season, still feels a certain way about it.

“Tite and Mauri (physical trainer) called me with Walter. We left, went to my house. Of course I was upset. I texted Walter, and said I’d give him support.”

“My problem was not with him. I was upset with Tite.”

Cássio was speaking on Brazilian television programme Aqui com Benja.

“At that moment, I had gone through the death of my grandmother and then I did not play. I went to the funeral, came back and was on the bench. I was annoyed the way it was, I talked to Tite and Mauri, because we ended up in a misunderstanding.”

The experienced shot-stopper was heavily criticised for his physical condition at his time but said that others near him could have clued him in sooner.

“I knew I was physically ill, overweight, swaying in some games. Seeing it today, I think I had lost focus. I was wrong then but I could have been alerted. The first person who mentioned it to me was my wife.”
