Newcastle United plot January move for Manchester United star Donny van de Beek

According to The Mirror (h/t The Sun), Manchester United fringe star Donny van de Beek is one of the names on the January transfer list of Newcastle United.

The Holland international has suffered a tumultuous time at the club since completing his £39million move from AFC Ajax last summer. The midfielder was a crucial player in the Dutch club’s road to the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League semi-final.

His eye-catching performances in the midfield line were noticed by the Old Trafford outfit, and they decided to convince him to make the switch. However, things have certainly not gone to plan for the 24-year-old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has played the Dutchman rarely, if at all. While he did make 36 appearances over the course of last season, most of them were off-the-bench. Van de Beek was already ready to complete a loan move to Everton earlier this summer, but a deal was blocked off by his Norwegian.

However, Newcastle United are now preparing to complete a January swoop for the midfielder as his game-time issues have continued at Old Trafford.

Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, and Anthony Martial are also apparently being targeted by the Magpies after the Saudi takeover was completed earlier this month.

The Geordies have already conducted an early assessment of their team, and it has been found out that they are under-resourced in nearly every area. Thus, Van de Beek could certainly add quality to the midfield line and shore up the centre of the pitch.

But it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils would actually be open to letting one of their midfielders leave the club mid-season, regardless of the game-time they are providing him with.
