Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has praised his team-mates for keeping strong fitness schedules during their enforced coronavirus lockdown.

Madrid last played in the 2-1 defeat to Real Betis on March 8, leaving two points behind Barcelona with 11 games to play.

But Casemiro believes their commitment during difficult times will start to pay dividends when LaLiga fixtures are resumed.

“The work we did at home was crucial,” he told Real Madrid TV. “We did everything that was sent to us.

“The players are doing a fantastic job and it’s easy to tell that they trained hard at home.

“We kept our strength, our conditioning and hopefully we can tell that when we’re on the pitch.”

Long term injury absentees Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard could also be fit when fixtures resume.
