Having utilised the 3-4-1-2 formation against MK Dons, Cowley may decide to stick with this particular system tomorrow.

Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu will be determined to claim his 11th league clean-sheet of the season in this fixture.

Connor Ogilvie will feature alongside Sean Raggett in the heart of the defence whilst Kieron Freeman could potentially make way for Hayden Carter in the other centre-back position.

Signed on a temporary deal from Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, Carter is certainly no stranger to life in League One as he featured regularly at this level during a loan spell at Burton Albion last season.

In the 24 league games that he played for the Brewers, Carter averaged a relatively impressive WhoScored match rating of 6.97 which was only bettered by one of his former team-mates (Thomas Hamer).

Providing that Carter is able to make an encouraging start to his stint at Portsmouth, he could potentially retain a place in the club’s side for the foreseeable future.

Reeco Hackett-Fairchild and Mahlon Romeo will occupy the wing-back positions whilst Joe Morrell will be accompanied in central midfield by Shaun Williams.

Marcus Harness will feature in a more advanced role behind Ronan Curtis and George Hirst who will be tasked with providing the firepower that Pompey will need to seal a positive result against Wimbledon.

Having netted his fourth goal of the campaign during Portsmouth’s defeat to MK Dons, Hirst will be confident in his ability to add to this particular tally against a Wimbledon side who have only prevented their opponents from scoring on three occasions in the third-tier this season.
