Cartaginés and Verdes out for first victory | OneFootball

MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with CS Cartaginés hosting Verdes FC in Group C on Wednesday at Estadio José Rafael "Fello" Meza in Cartago, Costa Rica.

The meeting presents the first encounter between the sides in their history.

Cartaginés enters the match with one point after a loss and a draw in its opening fixtures and will eye its first victory of the campaign. Kevin Briceño has 11 saves and is coming off a clean sheet performance in a nil-nil draw at FC Motagua during matchweek two. Los Azules will face a Belizean team for the first time.

Verdes FC will close out its Group Stage participation in search of its first points. The Belizean side fell in its first three meetings. Bryan Lozano leads the side with one goal and one assist in the 2025 campaign. Verdes will face a Costa Rican club for a sixth time, seeking its first victory against a club from that nation.

Historic series

CS Cartaginés and Verdes FC will face each other for the first time in the Central American Cup. For Los Brumosos, this will be their first match against a Belizean team in any club tournament.

For Verdes FC, this will be their sixth encounter against Costa Rican clubs.

In Week Two, they fell at home 2-1 to Deportivo Saprissa (Bryan Lozano 45+4’ for Verdes FC; Deyver Vega 2’ and Orlando Sinclair 52’ for the visitors). Verdes FC has five losses against Costa Rican clubs and one draw, 1-1, against Puntarenas FC in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the Copa INTERCLUBES on August 31, 2006, at Estadio Norman Broaster in San Ignacio (BLZ). Verdes FC’s goal was scored by Deris Benavides, while Rodolfo Arnáez scored for Municipal Puntarenas. The Costa Rican side won the series 6-1 on aggregate.
