Manchester United stalwart Michael Carrick reiterated that his decision to leave the club has nothing to do with incoming coach Ralf Rangnick.
Carrick managed United as caretaker over the past three matches, overseeing a Champions League win over Villarreal, and a draw and a win in the Premier League against Chelsea and Arsenal respectively.
After the 3-2 win over Arsenal at home on Thursday, Carrick announced he was leaving his post as first team coach with immediate effect.
Asked if he had spoken with Rangnick, who is taking over tomorrow, per BBC Sport, Carrick said: "They have been little ones to be honest.
"I was conscious of making my decision before any real conversations with Ralf.
"I wanted to be clear cut. It was nothing personal at all.
"He's got a good group of players to work with and hopefully we'll look back at this being a big result."
