Carney Chukwuemeka has praised his relationship with Chelsea star Cole Palmer after scoring his first goal at Stamford Bridge against Leicester City.

The 20-year-old started the FA Cup quarter-final on the bench, but was introduced to the pitch when the score was tied at 2-2, with just 12 minutes remaining. Shortly after, he had written his name on the scoresheet, and Chelsea were on their way to Wembley.

A fantastic goal, Chukwuemeka landed in the net after a quick backheel from Palmer.

Speaking after the game, Chukwuemeka said: "Even in training, we are always finding each other and linking well. So as soon as I played it to Cole, I knew I was getting it back.

"He even told me before the game that when I came on, he would assist me. So as soon as I played it to Cole, I knew I was getting it back. It was an amazing feeling, honestly. I didn't know what to do after I scored, how to celebrate. I've got great teammates who pushed me towards the fans."

Chukwuemeka's goal was key in earning Chelsea's place in the FA Cup semi-final, where they will face Manchester City at Wembley on 20 April. This will be the midfielder's first chance to walk out at the national stadium in a Chelsea shirt, a prospect he is excited by.

"We went into this season wanting to win trophies and play in finals, so it's a massive opportunity for us as a young squad," Chukwuemeka continued.

"It's amazing for me. I missed the Carabao Cup final due to injury so to the chance to play at Wembley is the stuff of dreams for me. It's something I dreamt about as a kid as I'm a Chelsea fan, so I can't wait."
